Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 109230
Provide German langpack for OOo 3.20 as tar.gz
Last modified: 2017-05-20 09:45:03 UTC
Hello, would you please provide German langpack files for Version 3.20 as ordinary tar.gz. I am requesting this, because these files are needed by the Exherbo distribution¹ to build OOo with German language support². Frakturfreak ¹ http://exherbo.org ² http://git.exherbo.org/summer/packages/app-office/openoffice-bin/index.html (section Downloads)
Not an i18n locale data issue. @ihi, pjanik: can we do such things, provide language dependent source bundles? @frakturfreak: I don't get why you'd need such a thing at all. If you build OOo from source you had checked out from the repository or downloaded a source bundle anyway, which includes all languages.
ingo, do we support languagepack archives ?
@er Why I want this? Just simple I don’t want to change the exheres. Which defines to install the binary openoffice (openoffice-bin not openoffice) package by installing the English version. And the languages are ment to be provided via language packs.
Technically we support this, no problem with PKGFORMAT=archive. The question is, if our release engineers want to release such an additional product. Typically we deliver Linux language packs as RPMs or DEBs.
There seems to be some confusion here. The submitter first asked for "German langpack files ... because these files are needed ... to build OOo with German language support". I read this as language dependent source files would be needed in a bundle. That seems not to have been meant, but instead a .tar.gz build target of the langpacks seems to be requested, which 'is' answered with that would be no problem if PKGFORMAT=archive was used. It never occurred to me that release engineering was asked to provide .tar.gz langpacks, which btw already exist, see http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/extended/3.2.0rc5/ I guess we can close this issue now, or did I miss something?
