Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 110730
Full download of OpenOffice.Org 3.2.0 is never actually accomplished
Last modified: 2012-02-14 01:06:58 UTC
Hello, I report here that OpenOfficeOrg 3.2.0 is never fully downloaded on my PC - the last remaining 1-2 percents are never really fully downloaded. Hence the installation crashes. This happens both with Firefox 2.0.0.20 and with Opera 10.51 . This was first encountered by me with the German version of OpenOffice.Org 3.2.0 , then with the German portable version, both with and without JRE, and verified with the British English version of it. I cannot say where the issue ctually lies. Maybe it is he size of he package. Or the server(s) respond with something the browsers cannot understand. Given that the browsers show the last 1-2 percents of the package to be never fully downloaded, I can only guess that the browsers might be waiting for server commands or TCP packages which are never really delivered. As a sidenote, sonce Opera marks the files as being fully donloaded after a time, the installation fails (crashes). My system is Windows XP, Servicepack 3, German language, with an underlying MSI K9N Neo V3 mainboard with an AMD 4400+ Processor. The network is handled by a Realtek-based onboard network chip. Used are Zonealarm 7.0.438.000 and NOD32 v4 as the antivirus program, version 4.0.437.0, signature update 5012, however, the problem occurs with and without the scanner turned on/being active. Hard disk space is about 1.2 GB on C: and about 5 GB on D: . Should be more than enough, then. A former version of OpenOffice.Org was uninstalled prior to the process. I even uninstalled the complete Java JRE.
Which download site did you try? If you use a link from http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/localized/de/3.2.0/ you will be redirected to a ftp server in your region. Then please report again here.
Well, I just tried the mirror of ftp.uni-muenster.de , and it worked ! The download from this server was also much faster. Closer to my home, I guess. Before that I encountered difficulty with installing from other MSI packages, and after a quick search I used the downloaded program of WindowsXP-KB942288-v3- x86.exe - apparently KB942288, which is in fact MSI installer version 4.5 . After that, I did a reboot of my system. Now both download and install proceeded as intended. No problems anymore. And I'm still clueless about what might have caused my original problem ...
Resolving invalid, as the problem does not exist anymore
