To simulate:

- Open a documnet
- Key in some Roman and Chinese charaters
- Select SaveAs, select Pocket Word format
- Close the document
- Reopen the saved document

Reassigned to US.
Comment 2 ulf.stroehler 2003-02-11 20:13:20 UTC
us->ja: is it possible at all?
If you feel you should not be the owner of this task, and it is a
filter issue, pls. reassign to mru.
Comment 3 Joost Andrae 2003-02-12 09:15:01 UTC
JA: I cannot confirm this. AFAIK my PocketPC 2002 doesn't even have a
Chinese locale and there is no way to add eg. unicode fonts. AFAIK
PocketPC doesn't support GB18030 fonts, HKSCS, or other CJK locales.
If you think I am wrong then please reopen this issue. I will mark it
as invalid and close it.
Comment 4 waiterevo 2003-02-12 09:34:48 UTC
You don't need a PDA to test it. Simple export a file with Unicode
CJK characters as Pocket Word format and reopen the file again in
OpenOffice. You will find that the CJK characters become "??". It
seems that the Pocket Word filter is not Unicode enabled. Pocket
Excel filter is working fine.
Comment 5 waiterevo 2003-02-12 09:35:33 UTC
Reopen it. See my last comment.
Comment 6 Joost Andrae 2003-02-12 09:42:20 UTC
JA: blame me... Just a few minutes ago a collegue told me that there
is a PocketPC platform with CJK enabled
Comment 7 Joost Andrae 2003-02-12 09:47:43 UTC
Joost->Aidan: please have a look at this
Comment 8 aidan.butler 2003-02-12 10:46:46 UTC
Aidan: The problem here is with the DocEncoder. It appears that the
correct encoding is not specified with the getBytes method.
Comment 9 aidan.butler 2003-04-02 13:20:45 UTC
Aidan: transferring to you as discussed!
Comment 10 martin_maher 2003-04-07 16:43:44 UTC
MM: I am trying to figure out what encoding pocket word is using for
strings for japanese. It does not appear to be one of the standard
encodings supported by Java. I will also need to find out which
records in pocket word indicate the locale (currently not supported).
I am continue to investigate but I think this bug might take longer
than was initially thought.
Comment 11 martin_maher 2003-04-10 15:39:46 UTC
MM: Changed parasc.cxx in the ascii filter so that if the locale uses
an unregonised CharSet it defaults to ASCII
Comment 12 martin_maher 2003-04-10 15:43:44 UTC
Comment added to wrong bug (should have been i6522)
Comment 13 Joost Andrae 2003-04-17 14:32:53 UTC
JA: changed target to have it discussed for 1.1 Beta2. Probably this
issue will fail to get into 1.1
Comment 14 Joost Andrae 2003-04-28 15:23:53 UTC
JA: CJK support of small device filters failed to get into 1.1.
Retargeted issue to OOo 2.0 target
Comment 15 martin_maher 2003-09-17 11:22:39 UTC
MM: These filter bugs are not a priority for us right now.
Comment 16 jogi 2003-10-01 08:55:28 UTC
Corrected the sub component.
Comment 17 jogi 2003-10-01 13:00:57 UTC
According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap
(http://tools.openoffice.org/releases) this issue was retargeted to
