Description lynxags 2010-05-27 21:55:51 UTC
Recently I converted my xls files with macros to ods files with macros. I did
this conversion on a windows machine and then migrated the file to ubuntu 10.04.
Now the issue is whenever I open this file and save it, it does not open again
until I restart the OS. Can someone advise?
I get the Calc splash screen and then it goes away without opening calc.
Comment 1 Rainer Bielefeld 2010-05-28 08:07:13 UTC
I can't check that without sample document and correct OOo version.

@lynxags:
This is the Issue Tracker system, not a helpdesk! You can get help from the
public users mailing list users@openoffice.org or on the forum at
<http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/>

May I ask you to read our guidelines on
<http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html> and
<http://www.openoffice.org/bugs/bug_writing_guidelines.html> before you file
further issues or post again here? Then please select correct information for
Issue Tracker selection fields Component, Subcomponent, Platform, OS, Version,
Priority (generally: leave '3'),
contribute a clear step by step instruction containing all observations (error
messages ...), EVERY key press and EVERY mouse click how to reproduce the
problem, and explain why you believe that your results are unexpected.
That means (for example):
do not write something like "I am not able to ...", but
  6. left mouse click on …
     expected: …, color of … changes, …
actual: no …., color remains white, no …

Screenshots might help to explain the problem.

Please
- always specify your OOo download source, version, localization,
  you used for your tests!
- attach a sample document (always with ODF source document)!
- Always contribute a meaningful Summary

Steps to reproduce:
1. Make a change in the attached document. Save and close the document.
2. Try to open the document again. It will not open. You will just see the
splash screen.

Another thing I noticed is when I try to save the same document twice, I get the
following error.
"Error saving the document.
Write Error.
The file could not be written"

I think this error may be related.

OO Download source: Ubuntu Software Center
Version: 3.2
OS: Linux Ubuntu 10.04

I do not reproduce the problem with OOo 3.2.1 RC2 on Ubuntu 8.04
As stated by Mechtilde it is probably a go-oo/ubuntu version bug.

That said on opening the file I get a macro security alert dialog and I need to
click OK button to be able to open the file. If, for whatever reason, you don't
see this dialog (e.g if it is on another screen or behind another window) you
can't open the file.

@lynxags:
comments from lynxags Fri May 28 21:50:09 are not really "every key press and
every mouse click" as requested. Please consider how many ways to open, change,
close a document are possible. So currently available information is not useful
for further investigations.

I can't reproduce this problem on Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 with OOo 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu4
either, so its either specific to the users machine or there was not enough
information given to properly reproduce the bug.
Comment 8 noel.power 2010-05-31 10:38:55 UTC
can't reproduce either ( opensuse 64bit ),
I wonder what kindof file system is the file stored to ( local, NFS, CIF ? )

also what platform 64 or 32 bit
Comment 9 kendy 2010-06-03 15:20:08 UTC
lynxags: Please provide more detailed description of what _exactly_ you are
doing (and what exactly fails), as nobody is apparently able to reproduce with
the steps you described.
