Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 112928
Startup: Every time, office is started a ${TEMP}/svXXX.tmp is created
Last modified: 2010-07-06 08:18:03 UTC
Every time the office is started, a new svXXX.tmp will create in ${TEMP} directory. This could not a problem, as long as the office is start not too often. In our performance test environment it is a problem, due the the fact the tests will startup and shutdown the office very often. So the ${TEMP} could run over. We should remove the file after office is right shutdown.

I am not sure that this is a duplicate to issue 112166. The problem described here happens only if office process is killed or crashes and is never started again. This is what happens in performance testing, the office process there is killed explicitly, so it just has no chance to remove the temporary folder. If it was started without removing user configuration it would detect that the folder was not removed and would remove it. So the bug here is that performance testing kills the office from my point of view.
mav->lla: Sending to you, since performance test is your area. Please send the issue back if you believe, that the office should handle the temporary files in other way. Although currently I see no acceptable way to handle the scenario cleanly. If killing of the office is really unavoidable here, mba has suggested just to set the temporary folder to the temp in user repository in case of performance testing. This workaround would let the temporary files be deleted together with user repository.
This *.tmp file seems to there with or without killing the office. I would assume that this is the png file of the splash screen. @ lla: Please check if this file is a graphic file with tmp extension.
Now I see what looks to be confusing. This bug is about svXXX.tmp temporary folder. And it is there only after the office has been killed. The PNG temporary file is something different and is covered by issue 112166.
is really duplicate. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 112166 ***
