Description morvan_br 2010-08-07 23:14:16 UTC
In Calc, such file and several simulations, Calc Chart Component inverts
columns. If you have a spreadsheet - say - with 20 cities, and generate a chart
with data, that such names and incomings from it, first city - in the chart, is
the last one. A client at my work sent me a file to try to fix the chart
direction, no success. The workaround I made was to invert (sorting) the
spreadsheet data, to see if inside chart that worked. When I tried other
modalities of chart, they worked no problem.

Morvan

There are two settings to influence the direction
(1) Format > Axis > Tab 'Scale' > Checkbox 'Reverse direction'
(2) Format > Axis > Tab 'Positioning' > List 'Cross other axis at'

I'm not sure what you want to get, but I'll attach a modified chart, so that you
can see the effect of those settings.

Thanks everybody.
Regina, your solution works. My client stood satisfied with results. Interesting
I had seek the same approach and failed. Maybe I did have to use the two
directions you quoted - no puzzle words... But I continue thinking the behaviour
is not satisfactory. Bar graphic ought to get A to B; why B to A?
My doubt is if it is now a defect or a feature to get working.
All suggestions are welcome.

Good afternoon.

I tested (with attached file I put) and direction continues to go upside down. I think Graphs must plot first item on first place. Simple as is.
Solution Regina showed worked too good. But, if software plots first item in first place, is the correct to do.

Best regards,

Morvan.

Chart values are ordered according to table data.
