In calc:
select row 2 until 2000 and hide them... (format > row > hide)
using your keyboard goto cell a1.
hold down shift and pres down-key (selecting the rows)
notice it takes a lot of time before you reach row 2001

With the Version field set to OOo3.2 this looks like you are using a go-oo
release that has 1MB rows enabled and not an upstream release that enabled 1MB
rows for the upcoming OOo3.3. However, this sounds like issue 113139, please try
again with OOO330_m3 or later.

No such problems in OOo 3.3.
