Description pokoli_srk 2010-08-22 18:59:40 UTC
When you try to numerate the Images inserted on a document, it assigns to it the
variable name "Il·lustracio" (logic, because this is the catalan traduction of
image) but then it cuts the name in the 3rd caracter (·) and doesn't show any
value. I think that changing this value on this language can solve the problem.
I don't know if this problem exists in other language packs.

I'm using Ubuntu linux, maybe this problem is especific os my distribution. I
don't know.

Regards,

pokoli.

Hi
I tested in Windows XP, Ooo Writer 3.2.1.
The behaviour is similar but not exact:
The caption is not cut at the character "·", but all the word "Il·lustració" is
shown. However, there is no value after the word.
So I guess the original bug reporter sees:
Il· <novalue>:
And what I see is:
Il·lustració <novalue>:

Either way, it's a bug.

I think the problem might be that in Caption dialog, the Category field does not
support typing an "·" character.

reassigning to ui; not sure whether it's actually the right component, but it's
better than in ca ;)
Reassign as appropriate...

@OS: the problem:
1. Number range don't allow variable names containing a spaces
2. The UI allows spaces to be set in "Tools - Options - OOo-dev Writer -
AutoCaption - <object name> - Category"
-> we could forbid this but...
3. The standard category name for "Illustration" in Catalan is "Il·lustracio"
which leads to make this function useless.

Please have a look.

Please note that the problematic character is *not* a space, but a middle dot.

Just for info,

Following Unicode UAX #31, "·" (U+00B7) is denoted as a candidate char for tailoring http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr31/#Specific_Character_Adjustments

this bug was fixed in LibreOffice see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61754
