Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 114795
Autofill by drag overwrites [also] hidden cells when used in autofiltered selection
Last modified: 2011-03-28 09:50:31 UTC
Autofill by drag overwrites both visible and hidden cells when used in autofiltered selection. If you COPY a value, then PASTE that into a cell range in the autofiltered list, only the VISIBLE cells are overwritten. But with Autofill (dragging the little black square downwards) both visible and hidden cells are overwritten. Also when holding Ctrl to make all cells Expected: overwrite only the visible cells. How to reproduce: 1 take a list and autofilter it. 2 select something in the autofilter selectors, so that some rows here and there are hidden 3 pick some cell in the autofiltered range, and drag the black autofill square down some cells 4 remove autofiltering from the list and observe damaged [ex-hidden] cells. OK have to admit I don't actually know if this is a bug or a feature, but since it behaves differently on (1)copy/paste from (2)Ctrl+Autofill I file this is a bug. To me the two techniques looks the same and I would expect them to have the same result.
I believe this is covered by Issue 89232 Although that issue talks about "drag fill", the history of the issue includes both fill and copy operations on filtered rows.
yep that's a duplicate and I'm going to vote for it.
