Just tried to install 3.3.0 RC1 and I get a warning "JRE Required - OpenOffice.org requires a Java runtime 
environment to perform this task...."

I have tried adding a JRE in the java preferences but my JRE is greyed-out and I can't select it.
/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0_21-b07-298.jdk
