Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 115526
Inconsistent letter generation using MailMerge to send E-mails
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:15:28 UTC
Whenever I use the MailMerge to generate E-mails I frequently see confused characters in the E-mail. Like: **************************************************** ... works out in favor of increased attendance: Donald Charles < td style="text-align:left;width:0.9563in; " class="Table70_A1"> O'Donnell ... *********************************************************** This did not appear on all the E-mails but several of them. Additionally the name "Donald" and "O'Donnell" did not appear here in the template that was used to create the mailing (and no inserted fields around this either...they were at the top of the note).
Created attachment 74047 [details] .eml file of the E-Mail
Please attach the document merge (odt) and a spreadsheet containing the merge data.
I should have attached those when I opened the ticket...sorry about that. Attached...

@x046866x: How does the document look like at step 7 when you click the button "Edit individual document..." Are the fields filled correctly and do you see any wrong characters?
I did not save this document in Merged format, although I have seen this occur several times arbitrarily when I E-mailed something I have never seen this occur when I generated a mailing for print. Something happening on the hydration to HTML?
@OS: I get another character like "Â" where I have no clue for it.
@x046866x: what is your system locale (language)? Which mail program are you using? It looks like paragraph marks or line breaks are wrongly encoded ("Â~" is a typical mark of it.)
Locale setting is "Default - English (USA)"
set target 3.x since not relevant for 3.4 release.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
