Description quancayda 2010-12-05 09:50:17 UTC
I input multiple lines (by Ctrl + Enter) in A1 and merge A1 and B1 into one cell ,
then save file as *.xls format. If I reopen this file, this cell (A1) will only
display one line, not multiple lines as expected.

I try saving this with *.ods format, it does not happen.

Also, Microsoft office does not stick this case.

This is not a problem of OpenOffice.org. Excel does not use merged cells when it
calculates automatic row heights.

You will see the effect too when you do the same directly in Excel:
- Insert multi-line text into cell A1 -> Excel expads row 1.
- Merge A1 with B1 -> Excel shrinks row 1 to one line of text, ignoring the
multi-line contents.

The XLS export filter writes the automatic height flag for row 1, thus Excel
recalculates the height of row 1 after reading the file.

Hi, Daniel
I've tried this scenario in MS Excel 2003 and 2010.
I find the Excel doesn't ignore the multiple -lines contents.
I wanna confirm with you, and propose to reopen this bug.
