DON'T HAVE ISSUES ON MS OFFICE BUT ON CALC TO IMPRESS TO UPDATE SLIDE UPDATE ALL
SLIDES ON FRONT OPENING OF CALC. MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE A PATH TO THE WORKSHEET OF
THE ODS FILE TO IMPRESS. AS A DDE LINK

I cannot reproduce this in Apache OpenOffice 4.1.0. Linking from Impress to a Calc file (including updates in the Calc file being reflected in Impress) worked in my test. 

Additional details below.

Looked into this on Apache OpenOffice 4.1.0. based on this wiki page: https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOoAuthors_User_Manual/Impress_Guide/Inserting_other_objects

Following those instructions, I did the following:
1) In the Insert menu select Object > OLE Object...
2) In the dialog window select the radio button 'Create from file'
3) Using the 'Search...' button I specified the Calc file I wanted to use.
4) I checked the box 'Link to file'.
This results in the Calc file being inserted in the Impress file.

I then edited the Calc file, the updates were not reflected in the Impress file.
There are two ways to have the updates reflected in the Impress file:
1) Close the file and re-open it. A dialog box will appear asking if all links need to be updated.
2) In the Edit menu select Links... This shows a dialog box with all the links in the file and an Update button (among others).

Note that updating the Impress file from the Calc file does not work if you don't do step 4, i.e. checking the 'Link to file' box.

OOo 3.2.0 is end-of-life status now.
Try with the latest version.
