Description rosoma_xa 2011-01-20 14:29:09 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create some Writer Document.
2. Choose Tools->Mail Merge Wizard.
3. Go to step3 ("Select Adress List") and press the "Select Adress List" button.
4. In the "Select Adress List" tab choose "Create" button.
5. In "New Adrress List" Tab move on to E-mail adress field, type some text
with character @ missing and hit Ok.
Expected Result: As an invalid email address was been added there should be the
warning message displayed.
Actual result: The data was been accepted without warnings.
Two "@" characters or forbidden symbols like ()[]\;:,<> can be added as well.

For a future version, MailMerge Wizard should check if email address contains
illegal characters.
Comment 2 rosoma_xa 2011-01-20 15:20:55 UTC
The same problem with ZIP field. Any symbol can be added besides figures.
Should I report it as separate issue?
Comment 3 Oliver Specht 2011-01-20 17:13:28 UTC
Which number/symbols are valid in the zip code depends on the country and cannot
be evaluated in that dialog.

BTW: A mail address without '@' can be absolutely correct if you want to send
mails inside of your own network ;-)

Hello,

Rather than email check, this will be better if we could continue the process if a bad address occured.

See issue http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=72265
