Description wdonne 2011-02-09 15:33:02 UTC
When the line spacing option is not touched for a paragraph there is no fo:line-height property for its
style. In that case the default is "normal". In the paragraph property dialog box the option "Single" is
shown, making it look like it is the default. However, when you change the line spacing to another
option, save the document, reopen it and change back to "Single", the paragraph style will have the
fo:line-height property with the value "100%". This is not the same as "normal", though it looks the
same (it shouldn't, see also http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=116887).

In fact it is not possible to turn back to the default line spacing option "normal". I think this option
should be added to the list, because as soon as the user has touched line spacing it is no longer
possible to revert to a consistent value across the document. This will be visible when the document is
exported to formats which also use the property line-height.

Same remark as for issue 116887.
Which format?
Attach a sample document.

This is about ODT. You don't need a sample. Just create an empty document and follow the described
instructions.

@OD: Please have a look.

It seems to me that this is our typical style concept (= no defect).
Defaults are visible in the UI but first not written explicitly (i.e. default
font might be "Times New Roman" but there is not mention of this font anywhere).
Only when changing 1 attribute (let's say from TNR to Arial) and then back to
the original attribute (-> TNR), the font face will be explicitly written and
stays "hard coded".
Comment 4 wdonne 2011-02-11 12:46:22 UTC
I agree with the style concept. The list of options should just also include "normal" and it should be the
default instead of 100%. If fact "Single" should correspond to normal and 1.5 and double should be derived
from that. In that case 100% is just a possible value the user can type in. That means if issue 116887 is
fixed, this issue doesn't need fixing. It only needs fixing if "Single" continues to correspond to 100%.

Comment 6 wdonne 2013-02-16 11:06:24 UTC
This hasn't changed in version 3.4.1. I think the most consistent solution is to treat the value "Single" as the default. This means that in this case no fo:line-height property should be generated or that its value is set to "normal" instead of "100%", even if "normal" is calculated as "100%". This is consistent with the case where line-spacing isn't changed by the user. Then no fo:line-height is generated, while the dialog box will show "Single" as the current value.
