Description akrioukov 2003-02-21 02:30:39 UTC
I'm professionally working with classical Greek, and I want to use OpenOffice
for my work. This is possible under Windows NT, but under Linux I can't input
from my keyboard any accented Greek symbols from the "Extended Greek" Unicode
range, since OO currently recognizes only limited set of X11 keysyms, defined
in the file keysymdef.h.

The same keyboard works correctly with any X11 application, which can recognize
Unicode keysyms, represented as 0x100****, where **** is a Unicode index.

I haven't found any special issues devoted to this problem, and it looks very
strange, since, I think, should be many OO users experimenting with
their "exotic" languages and scripts.

It should be easy to fix it, since the Russian company ALTLinux
(ftp://ftp.altlinux.ru/pub/distributions/ALTLinux/OpenOffice/1.0.1/sources)
already provided a special patch, allowing to input any X11 keysyms from user's
keyboard. Currently I'm working with AltLinux build 1.0.1 and it works fine for
me. So, I think, this patch should be adapted in the official version.

cp: cannot be verified in qa but effectively only by the submitter. I
verified that my changes work as designed
Comment 4 michael.bemmer 2003-03-13 11:15:02 UTC
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved
<wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details.

Still doesn't work in 644_m7. Or it shouldn't, and I have to wait for
1.1 Beta2 ?
Comment 6 christof.pintaske 2003-04-28 10:55:17 UTC

check once the version is out.
Comment 7 akrioukov 2003-04-28 15:39:06 UTC
Well, now I see it works in 644_m11. Thanks a lot.
