Description daniel.sportes 2011-04-08 15:29:24 UTC
The following attachment (as short as possible), when "Saved As PPT" generates a file that cannot be open by PowerPoint (I use PowerPoint viewer) because declared as "corrupted".
My original document is much longer and I could not find what sentence cause the corruption: so unfortunately I do not have any solution for saving it as PPT.

No problem saving and reopening the file with PPTViewer under Win7 using version 3.3 and DEV300_m19. Please attach the exported ppt file as well. Thanks.

The attached Bad2.ppt is correctly open with PowerPoint Viewer 14.... (the last one, Office 2010). However it is NOT with releases 12... (2007, including the last fix of Microsoft SP2 delivered with Win7 update today !).
That means you use a feature / format NOT understood by older releases of PowerPoint.
This is recent: when I try to open a PPT of another file saved by Impress 3.2, it works and everybody can read it (even old PPT viewer). But if I save the same file as PPT with Impress 3.3.0 the saved file can only be read by the last (2010) viewer (release 14....).
This will cause a lot of troubles to people resaving their ODP files as PPT after a move to 3.3.0 because those files won't be readable by older Office releases. Just try to save my ODP with Impress 3.2 and open it with an old PPT 97/XP/2000 : it works.
This is my last analysis, but I could be wrong. Many thanks for your efforts.

Reassigned. @sj:anything that could be done about that?

I tested this issue in several ways. I downloaded the file provided (Bad2.ppt) and tested it with Office Powerpoint 2010, and it opened correctly. However, I downloaded the version the user referenced (Powerpoint Viewer v12) and I was unable to open the powerpoint that had just opened for 2010, saying that the file was corrupted.

I tried to create my own .ppt file with the newest version of Open Office, OOo-dev 3.4, and the power point worked correctly using both version of Office PowerPoint. Perhaps this issue was corrected in the latest build of Open Office. I would suggest that the original user (dsportes) download the newest version and see if the problem persists.

Removing the "needmoreinfo" keyword. We should have enough information to test this.
