Table Text of particular .doc (MSO97) invisible at wrong place

Created attachment 76715 [details] File exhibiting the defect/issue I have some documents with large amounts of text in tables. These have been edited and saved using OO Writer previously in .doc format. On opening some of these documents later, using OO 3.3 Writer, I find that some of the text in the tables is not visible. When I then open the same file in Microsoft Word 2007, the text IS VISIBLE - it appears as it should. When I then reopen the file in OO 3.3 Writer, text that was visible in MS Word is once again INVISIBLE. I have attached a sample file. Note that every cell in the first column shows text when opened with MS Word. I note the following in relation to this issue: - editing and resaving the document in Writer or Word has no effect, even where the table size and amount of text is greatly reduced. - only cells in the first column have been observed having this issue. - the issue is not consistent across the whole column - for affected cells, the cursor moves from the last character of previous row, not to the first character of the next row, but somewhere slightly to the left. If a selection is made, starting from this point, and then copied, the invisible text can be captured and then pasted elsewhere. - When I save the document in ODT format (using Writer), the issue remains in the new file. - I am using both Writer and Word on the same PC (OS = Vista).
getting rid of value "enhancement" for field "severity". For enhancement the field "issue type" shall be used.
I was able to recreate the issue using OO Writer 3.4.1 (Build: 9593 - Revision: 1372282 - OS: Windows 7 64-bit) using the original attached file. Elements of the first column that are visible in Microsoft Word are not visible in OO Writer. I also renamed the file after opening in Word and saving as the same type. The issue still persisted with the new file. However, the issue does not persist when creating a new table in the latest version: 1. A 4 X 12 table was created in OO Writer 3.4.1. 2. Each element was populated. 3. File was saved as .doc document. 4. File was opened in Microsoft Word 2007. Appeared as it should. 5. Renamed the file in the same format. 6. Opened in OO Writer. Appeared as it should. The issue was maybe caused by a formatting defect in earlier revisions of Writer. As the original report mentioned, the cursor in the original file would place itself outside of the table while traversing from row to row. I noticed the same issue in Microsoft Word (only on the right side instead of the left). This problem does not persist with the latest version.
Reproducible with "AOO 4.0.0 – German UI / German locale [AOO400m3(Build:9702) - Rev. 1503704 2013-07-16 14:54:56 (Di, 16 Jul 2013)]" on German German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", Common 4.0-dev User Profile. Opening reporter's sample document with MS WORD VIEWER only cell A3 is shown without text. Opening the document with AOO additionally A11:A16 and A18 are shown without text. If you click one of these additional empty cells caret will flash 1/2 column width left from table, not in table cell Additional info --------------- a) currently this is the only issue I see reproducible without any doubt, so I modify Bug Summary. b) For all other details in origknal report ("create with ... open and save with ... open again ...") I can't see any evidence, the sample simply seems to be a WORD97 document c) To restore cell contents you can 1. in opened sample <control>+<a> to select all 2. <control>+<c> for copy 3. Open new blank writer document 4. Menu 'Edit -> Paste special -> HTML > Table appears with complete contents for column a So the contents is not lost, but somehow invisible d) Results with older Versions: Reproducible with all versions I tested back until 2.0.2 But worked fine with OOo 1.1.5 e) Results with ogher Software e1) as expected LibO also affected (I tested LibO 4.2) e2) No problem with SoftMaker FreeOffice e3) No problem with Calligra WORDS @tcolley@livingdata.com.au Any idea what might be special in the affected cells?
