Description jhansonxi 2003-02-27 03:54:14 UTC
I imported a Word 2002 document that makes heavy use of underlined spaces and
tabs. The problem is that they are not showing up underlined in OOO Writer.
The "Individual words" setting seems to have no effect. I can not reproduce the
problem manually in a new document. Something is inhibiting the Underline+IW
setting. I will submit a copy of the files.

Has anyone tested my docs to see if the problem exists on their system?
Comment 3 jhansonxi 2003-04-17 23:37:23 UTC
Fails in 1.0.3 also.
Comment 4 jhansonxi 2003-05-01 19:49:04 UTC
Tested document in OOO 1.1 beta and the underline problem did not show
up. The layout was a bit of a mess due to spacing and margin problems
but it is fixable.

Jeff thank you for using and supporting OOo.

I'm going to close this case for now. 1.1 Beta 2 seems to have solved
the underline problem for me.

Comment 7 lohmaier 2003-09-26 14:10:51 UTC
reopen issue.
The problem only affects the display only (not printout or export to PDF).
It only shows up when "View|Nonprinting Characters" is turned on.
Occurs in both OOo 1.0.3 and OOo 1.1rc4
Comment 8 lohmaier 2003-09-26 14:14:47 UTC
confirming, OS->ALL (windos & linux at least), Priotity 4 (printing,
export works fine), target-milestone: "not determined", added " when
nonprinting chars are turned on" to summary

Reassigned to MRU
Comment 11 michael.ruess 2003-10-06 10:14:45 UTC
With OO 1.1 RC4 it looks much batter than with OO 1.0.x.

MRU->CMC: Lower on the page there are some tab characters completely
missing (as content, not as para attribute).
Comment 12 caolanm 2003-10-08 10:18:02 UTC
This is due (to a perhaps illadvised) workaround for a problem with
tabstops at the far right of a page or past the edge of a page. Word
will not line wrap on such tabs, while writer will. Given that they
are white space the idea was to strip when out when the are at the end
of a line, which improves the vast majority of documents. Of course
your document has underlined then and needs them in there :-(, so
either the hack has to go or has to be made more sophisticated...

Comment 14 caolanm 2003-10-08 11:22:46 UTC
Ok, we'll just have to remove the hack and address the underlying wrap
of tabstops outside the page text area with issue 20871
Comment 15 caolanm 2003-10-08 17:10:37 UTC
Fixed in killarneyfilterteam14 for 2.0, though it looks crap even
though imported fine. see issue 20871 for all of that jazz.
Comment 16 caolanm 2003-10-17 16:12:55 UTC
Reopen to reassign
Comment 17 caolanm 2003-10-17 16:13:32 UTC
cmc->mru: Because we don't handle issue 20871 yet it looks rubbish
even though imported correctly now
Comment 18 michael.ruess 2003-10-29 15:04:00 UTC
Yeah, can see. But IMO it already look very good, compared with OO 1.0.x.
Checked fix with CWS kilkennyfilterteam14.
Comment 19 michael.ruess 2003-10-29 15:04:41 UTC
Verified. Fix will be included in OO 2.0.
Comment 20 michael.ruess 2003-11-27 10:29:29 UTC
Fix good in OO 2.0 snapshot src680m13.
