After installing the latest AOO for Windows, build 9558, I find that on each system startup the general starting window of AOO is opened. 

The quickstarter should just put itself in the system tray without opening a window.

Note: after removing all remainders of previous installation of OpenOffice.org and reinstalling AOO, the problem was gone. I found that AOO does not place the quickstarter in the Startup folder as previous versions of OOo did.

It could be that the problem exists when installing over a previous installation of OOo, where the existing link in the startup folder is not removed but now results in different behavior (just guessing)

Confirmed on Linux and Windows.  Also this bug is not caused by the unclean previous installation.  That shortcut (and quickstart.exe) is installed by the current 3.4 installation.
It seems that -quickstart switch does not work anymore.  Further investigation needed.

I do not see this behavior with a new install on WinXP.  But I do see this issue when installing over an AOO 3.4 dev pack.   

We should probably try some more over-install scenarios, including installing AOO 3.4 on top of AOO 3.4.

confirming on win vista 32 with aoo3.4rc1:

C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3.4\program>soffice -quickstart
or
C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3.4\program>quickstart

opens start center

FYI this can be verified with the latest nightly build rev. >= 1338503

1)quickstart.exe and soffice -quickstart all can work with branch AOO34 r1351960 on WindowsXp and Win7 32bit 
2)soffice -quickstart can work with branch AOO34 r1351960 on Redhat
3)On Windows and Redhat, after enable "load Quickstart during system start-up" in Tools->Options->OOo-dev-Memory, quickstart can start-up normally without openning a window.
