Getting Involved - tracking a newbies path to frustration

As a newbie I found it very difficult to find my way around to see what/how to get started.

In short I think the web site needs some attention. Found a couple of dead links too.

Created a document to explain. See attached.

Get started with what?

It looks like you got directed within 1 click of the home page to out "How to get Involved" page. Did that not answer your initial questions? That is the page that we're using for that purpose.

Hi Rob,

yes, that 1 click got me to the home page you mention, and that is cool.
But moving to the development site page http://www.openoffice.org/development/ is where the confusion starts. Some old pages under there I think.

Although it can't be that bad, I successfully downloaded, and built the code and buiilt it and it runs in parallel to my 3.3 installation. But I did have to scratch around a bit to get that far.

Had a quick look at the LO site and their site looks much better (apart from the hideous green :-) ). I didn't look in depth there though.

Ian--

I saw your additional message today. We are in the process of making changes to the Help Wanted area and other documentation areas as we can.

I do hope you finally got what you needed today.
