Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 119326
Create a "First Run Center"
Last modified: 2013-01-29 21:47:21 UTC
Created attachment 77523 [details] Possible layout for a "first run center" == Background == The recent elimination of the registration wizard on AOO 3.4 had a small negative side effect: new users will not be prompted to fill the information under Tools → Options → OpenOffice.org → User data. This is a problem because, for example, without that data Writer will open documents on the first page instead of the last edited point: there will be no match between the non existing user data and the document author. While easy to fix (just fill the data), not all new users will be aware of the meaning of that configuration so I think it is a good idea to guide them there on first run. == The proposal == The main idea is to build a "First run center" that replace the start center only on first run, providing some information and quick links to important settings that needs to be configured by the user, among other things like links to the extensions and templates sites, a small document that list the main AOO's characteristics, etc. On the attached odg file you'll find a diagram with a possible layout for this first run center.
I think it is not a defect,and can't reproduce on Aoo34.
(In reply to comment #1) > I think it is not a defect, and can't reproduce on Aoo34. Nobody said it was a defect, so there is nothing to reproduce. It is a request for enhancement.
I think, it is not just a function point not take into account, it is relation with design. Suggest to arise in dev mail list to vote or confirm and get feedback.

getting rid of value "enhancement" for field "severity". For enhancement the field "issue type" shall be used.
Good idea Another parameter seems to be important under Tools > Options > Load/Save > General "Always create backup copy" is unchecked by default. This wizard could ask if the user wish make a backup of its documents. And warning him if this option is checked, he will have double the amount of documents created and rather space on his disk.
