Description magrawal 2003-03-01 17:07:57 UTC
I have encountered this problem on 2 computers. If I install OpenOffice on a

Windows 2000 computer while logged in as one user, I am unable to see OpenOffice

in the program group when I login as a different user. This is quite

inconvenient. I generally use my desktop while logged in as magrawal but

sometimes I have to login as Administrator to work on my postgres databse and

then I can't use Openoffice. I am attaching a screenshot of the fact that I can

see the openoffice folder in Windows explorer but not in start-> programs.

changing issue type to enhancement - what is requested here is
basically that OOo allows to install for _all_ users on a Win2000/XP
machine, instead of only for the current user.

changing title to express this better (hopefully :) - the old title is
somewhat misleading, IMO.

Adjusting priority to P4 (it never was a P2, anyway), given that a
network installation (setup /net) is a reasonable (and the intended)
"workaround" for the problem.

Set to "NEW"

OOo's behaviour in this instance is normal for Windows applications -
creating a profile for each user only when they actually run the
application is how it should be done. however, other applications
create their profile transparently, where-as OOo makes a big fuss
about it and it is this that confuses people

a workaround for ease of use would be to offer at installation to
create an icon for the current user (%USERPROFILE%) or for all users
(%ALLUSERSPROFILE%)

This is a dup of issue 11685.

Depending on Issue 11685 until someone marks this as a dup.
