Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 121394
PDF export: EPS vector graphics not correctly exported
Last modified: 2017-05-20 09:41:06 UTC
OpenOffice does not export EPS graphics to PDF (Writer, Draw, Impress). OOo 3.1 converted both EPS and SVG vector images to bitmaps for PDF output. When you _printed_ "to file" with a generic Postscript driver, however, EPS graphics were correctly output in EPS vector format ... while Postscript was still the print job format used. With PDF now being used for CUPS printing, an EPS is dropped when printing. AOO 3.4.1 now has much improved support for SVG: It is exported in vector format by Writer, Draw and Impress (although the test files I will attach show that part of the SVG is clipped). But EPS support has been lost somehow in the meantime. Platform: Ubuntu 12.04/64 bit, AOO 3.4.1 de (DEBs from Apache).
Created attachment 79947 [details] test files: EPS not exported to PDF Writer, Draw and Impress files containing an EPS and an SVG vector image (plus a PNG version of the latter); PDF exports written by AOO 3.4.1 show that the EPS graphics are completely dropped. I'm including some files created with LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 and OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 for comparison. The *pdfexport files show that the EPS was rasterized in previous versions of OO and current versions of LO. The Postscript file vector_writer_ooo_3.1.1_psprinter.ps is the "printed to file" output using the old Postscript based CUPS print job format with OpenOffice 3.1.1: EPS is output as vector graphic. Files created on Ubuntu 12.04/64 bit, except for the OOo 3.1.1 output (Ubuntu 9.10).
Muddled late-night bug report... I'll close this one and open a new one with a readable description.
