Description gablebatesmail 2013-04-01 19:51:38 UTC
When Impress is started, and an existing presentation is opened, it goes to Draw instead of Impress. Impress never gets run.

Please attach presentation that opens in Draw.

I tried to reproduce this bug on OpenOffice 4.0.0 first without succes, and then changed to version 3.4.1, which is the one used for the original report.
OS: Windows 7

I did not manage to replicate the issue, but here are the different scenarios I tried:

I first created a presentation based on a template without adding anything else into it. I then saved, closed and open it again.

My first assumption was that the actual content in the presentation would affect which application is opened?

Seems like Draw and Impress are very much the same when it comes to functionality and content.

I added the following content, each in a new slide, to my presentation. For each new slide, I saved, closed and reopened the presentation by double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer.

Gemotrial shapes
Images; BMP, JPEG and animated GIF
Table
An OLE-Object, Drawing, created from scratch, and also from file
A hyperlink to an image

I tried to save a Impress doc wihtout the selection "Automatic file name extension".

Saved as a Draw document. Now I had one Impress and one Draw doc with the same name, except for the file extensions.

Opened the Draw version and then opened the Impress version.

Tried opening the Impress file in different ways; double-clicking, right-clicked and opened, from OpenOffice application view, from within the different OpenOffice applications (except Database).

Changed file extension on the Draw version from .odg to .odp and opened it.

Activated all available tool menus from the View menu, saved changes and reopened the document.

We have just the opposite in "99801 - ODG opened via recent documents opens in Impress not Draw", I can't tell whether there is a relation, and without more information we can't find out.

Closing issue due to reporter's inactivity.

@reporter:
Please feel free to reopen this issue if you find out that the problem still exists in the latest release of AOO and if you can provide requested additional information. We need a sample document (Attachment here in the Bug report) and a detailed step by step instruction how to reproduce your problem, for details please see <http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/HowToFileIssue>!
