BZ doesn't allow removal of versions in use.  So the choices are:

1) Hide the versions from being used in new issues.

or

2) Reassign the version for the old issues, until no more issues refer to the version tag, then delete the tag.

I prefer '2', because my main problem are complex queries to find Bugs with both variant version spellings. But via the normal Interface that (as far as I know) indeed only is possible with normal version replacement in the bugs, what will cause some annoying email traffic.

Maybe someone with direct database access can help and replace the versions with wrong spelling? IMHO the most elegant way.

Reset the assignee to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
