Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 124851
CRASH when click 'Edit File' for document with OS-Write-Protected-Flag
Last modified: 2014-05-27 06:13:43 UTC
I installed OpenOffice 4.1.0 today and have discovered that when I open a read-only document and click on the 'Edit File' -> 'Yes' icon, Writer crashes. It then brings up the OpenOffice Document Recovery pane. Upon clicking OK, the pane closes and OpenOffice opens. In previous versions, an editable copy of the document opened. I have reproduced this behaviour with several read-only documents. I am running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 (64 bit) OS on a Core I5 with 16GB of RAM.
Created attachment 83378 [details] read only writer file for testing purposes. Using this file and the original bug description I was able to replicate the bug.
I downloaded the attached file and make it readonly (Ubuntu). 1. I opened it and could click "Edit File" without any problems -> editable copy was created. 2. Closing the copy without saving. 3. Open the original file a second time. Now AOO crashes by clicking on [Yes] after click on "Edit File". With AOO 4.0.1 no problem so REGRESSION is set.
Reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-dev – English UI / German locale - [AOO410m14(Build:9760) - Rev. 1583418 2014-04-02]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile: 0. From AOO Start Center 'open blank new Writer document -> Type "test" -> Save as 'Mytest.odt' (AOO File Dialog) -> Close document' 1. In WIN Files Explorer 'Rightclick document -> Properties -> Check "Write Protected" -> [ok]' > Write protection flag has been set 2. Menu 'File -> Recent documents -> Mytest.odt' > Opens document write protected 3. 'Click Icon "Edit Document" in Standard Toolbar -> Confirm message with "Yes"' CRASH Additional Info: (a) Writer, Impress Draw affected, not Calc, Formula (b) NOT reproducible with "AOO 4.2.0-Dev – German UI / German locale [AOO420m1(Build:9800) - Rev. 1597166 2014-05-20 1]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", “historic” 4. User Profile used for all predecessor versions So with a little luck this one already has been fixed? (c) Has nothing to do with the documents itself. A Craw document with writeprotection flag what works fine with 4.2.0 crashes 4.1.0 With 4.2.0 also mroe's trick with second opening does not provoke a crash @mroe Can you confirm fix for 4.2.0?
