Description CNS 2014-08-11 18:49:42 UTC
Hi twice in one week: I got alerts telling me to update my OO software. I clicked and got badly bugged, and had trouble un-installing malware files. However today the threat/files (2) would not be un-installed. Had to get Norton to fix remotely. Now anxious about ever clicking on an OO download button - which appears genuine, on your site. But I think perhaps some malware type files have piggy backed onto some of your downloads. Next time I want to update or download from OO, how will I know its bug-free and safe?

for your info the 2 bugs were 1) optimizer pro v3.2
2) Cinema Plus 1.2c which once I tried to uninstall threw up Nortons alert, which said it was a SONAR.Heuritic.120 file

Many thanks

Important, using Windows 8.1 not 8

Hi --

Could you please tell us where you originally downloaded OpenOffice from?

Was it directly from our download area (to SourceForge)-- http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html

or somewhere else?

Please let us know.

If you are using version 4.1.0 you should NOT have received any request for updates through the OpenOffice updater at this time. We recommend downloading exclusively from http://www.openoffice.org/download to avoid problems.
