Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 126566
Chanting markers cause open spaces between letters instead of under or above specific vowels.

Created attachment 84975 [details] Text Edit showing correctly is the smaller one on top When the OO changed to 64 bit this problem occurred. If you look at the uploaded picture you can see the red lines along side the devanagari (Sanskrit) text. Underneath the text is an horizontal red line & above the text is a vertical red line. These indicate sound pitch as in musical notes. There should be no break in the text however you will see a break in the text after every one of these lines. That break in the text is because these markers are treated by OO 4.1.1 as if they are separate letter when actually they are not, they should type in the exact same space as their respective letters only above or below. This has occurred only after the 64 bit upgrade over a year ago. In only 2 cases listed here the text would actually break anyway those 2 spots are twice as large as the spots where the text should remain connected without break. Can we finally fix this long time problem? I wrote about it over a year ago but the response I received told me I wrote to the incorrect section of the forum. Now I hope this is the correct place. I also added a second file which was with the same document opened in 'text edit'. This shows the correct display of the red markers except that text edit brings them too close to the text itself. That's another problem because text edit is not versatile enough to change that. OO allowed me to get the markers in the correct placement above & below but I am distraught about the gaps that have remained since that big update. Enclosed is are pictures of how this appears in OO 4.1.1 & another showing the exact same text in Text Edit. Another picture shows the Charater number of one of the items. It is found under Devanagari - Udatta/Anudatta Unicode: U+0951 & U+0952 UTF-8 EO A5 91 & UTF-8 EO A5 92 Open this document in other editing programs & the problem is not present, only in OO.
