Changing the paper format (format > page: page tab: paper size) to A6 on the attached document regularly lets writer hang. 
The issue does not occur on other variants of the document with different table and paragraph formats, hence may be related to the specifice formatting here.

I can confirm this with the following configuration:

System Configuration:
Processor: Intel Core i5 CPU M560 @2.67GHz
Installed Memory: 2.00 GB (1.6 usable)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Apache Open Office:
AOO412m3(Build:9782)  -  Rev. 1709696
2015-10-21 09:53:29 (Mi, 21 Okt 2015)
Language: en_US
Additional Language Packs: None

When changing the page size to A6 via the method set fourth by the submitter AOO 4.1.2 consistently hangs. The page size can be changed to A5 and to the U.S. standard Letter without problem. This leads me to believe that the table layout plus the margins for the page may have something to do with the hang.

A table over 20 pages in writer is IMO the problem. That's not the use of word prozessing.
