Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 127299
OS/2 link should be updated
Last modified: 2017-10-29 17:16:34 UTC
Either the hyperlink from OS/2 (currently http://www.ecomstation.com) should be changed to something more relevant (https://www.arcanoae.com) or something more general (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS/2).
When you can tell us *where* you have seen the link then we can have a look. Otherwise it's very difficult. ;-)
Ack... That's what I get for being distracted while in the middle of opening a ticket... Sorry about that, Marcus. I meant to say "...should be updated on ports page..." so: https://www.openoffice.org/porting/ OS/2 is the next to last listed currently available port.
Thanks for the link. However, I don't see why the link target is not relevant. eComStation is developing/maintaining the OS/2 since IBM has stopped it. That's also what the Wikipedia article is saying.
The Wikipedia article is outdated, though it does mention at the end of the third paragraph, after the bit about eComStation: In 2015 it was announced[4] that a new OEM distribution of OS/2 would be released that was to be called ArcaOS.[5] (Full disclosure: I'm the Managing Member of Arca Noae, LLC.) The last GA version of eComStation was 2.1, released in 2011. eComStation 2.2 has been stalled at beta 2 since 2013. Arca Noae has a current license from IBM to sell OS/2 as part of ArcaOS and ArcaUpdater. ArcaOS 5.0 is slated for release 3/31/2017. I can understand wanting to remain vendor-neutral, and certainly, IBM's own OS/2 page is of little help: http://www-01.ibm.com/software/os/warp-withdrawal/ My point is that if the link is to reference eComStation, then it is correct. If it is to provide a link to further information about OS/2, then it is not. If the intention is to link to the "current" maintainer of OS/2, then it should probably point to Arca Noae.
I know that OS/2 had an very active past. But didn't know that is still ongoing. So, thanks for the inside. @Yuri: As you maintain the OS/2 part in OpenOffice can you provide us with an alternative for a new link target? Or should we just change it to one of the suggestioned ones? Thanks.

Lewis request is correct, ArcaOS is the successor of eComStation.
"marcus" committed SVN revision 1780831 #i127299# Update link for OS/2
I've changed the link to Arca Noae.
