After cutting, but before I could complete pasting a couple of columns of data, the program went into its timed autosave routine. At that point it hanged. It did not complete the autosave function (to my knowledge), nor could I continue pasting the cut columns. The progress spinner appeared and I could not perform any interaction, including closing the program.  I had to force-quit the program, restart and restore the document to its latest saved version.

What do you means by Autosave?
Do you talking about Autorecovery in Tools > Options > Load/Save > General?

Yes, sorry if I used the wrong terms.

I have it timed to save autorecovery data every 15 minutes and that moment happened to hit just after I had cut the columns of data, but had not yet completed pasting them.

I was not able to reproduce.
Could you provide a sample document and a step-by-step procedure?
