Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 13647
browser-type "back button"
Last modified: 2010-10-22 19:22:44 UTC
I got my colleague to work with OOo, and he started to use it to make a big technical programming manual. He suggested the following feature and I agree that it would be very useful. If you use hyperlinks in your document e.g. in tables of contents, it would be very convenient if you could not only use them to jump to a certain chapter, but then also be able to jump back to the place where you came from. So the feature request is the addition of a "back" button similar to that known in web browsers.
SBA: Reassigned to Bettina from the User Experience team for consideration.

Someone asked about the missing "browser back button" so I looked up this issue again. I think this issue is improperly marked as duplicate of http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=5608 because in that latter issue more than one enhancement is proposed (and I suspect it's not actually being worked on because it is unclear what it is about exactly). Please reopen (and if you do, mark issue 14126 as a duplicate of this one and not of issue 5608).
Again, another user in nl.openoffice.org asked for this feature. I would like to restate that this is a very desirable feature, which is illustrated by the several issues that have been marked duplicate to #5608. As it is confusing that #5608 asks for more than one feature, which may delay their implementation, please reopen this issue.

You are right in that Issue 5608 asks for more than adding a navigation feature. However, its summary is clear about what it (mainly) asks for, and since there are already several Issues asking for a navigation button marked as duplicates I strongly suggest to keep 5608 as the main Issue about this: * The number of duplicates adds to its importance. * It's a policy here to mark those Issues as duplicates which have been submitted at a later time. This makes it clear to the developers that the feature has been on the agenda for a long time, and is still being asked for. I suggest that you vote for Issue 5608 and leave your comments there, especially for the back-button to be implemented soon.
