Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 14373
EPS graphic function appears broken in OO Write
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
OO Write applications that contain EPS graphics do not print correctly and are not saved correctly in Word 97/2000/XP format. The EPS graphic shows correctly in OO write. When printed, the OO document is aborted by the printer. In this case, the printer is an HP 4si with Postscript level 2. Apparently the postscript file generated by OO is not detected as a valid Postscript file. When the OO document is saved as a Word document, the graphic is blank when displayed in Word. The problem printing appears to fall over into the Word conversion as well. If, however, Word is used to import the graphic and a Word document saved, OO correctly reads and displays the the graphic. I have an example of the problem. I haven't figured out how to send to you yet, though...
Created attachment 6146 [details] zip file contains *sxw, *eps, and *doc files for testing.
Hi DJones, thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice... I opened your attached *.sxw file with OpenOffice 1.1RC5 on Solaris and printed it ==> everything went fine... Please try with our neweswt version and send an ew comment if your problem occurs again... If there's no new comment from you until 10/15/2003 we need to close this Issue then... reassigned to mci
reassigned to mru @ mru: hi mru, printing works fine here on Solaris... please test the word export...
MRU->SJ: Isn't it possible to export the eps-preview to MS fomats?
SJ->MRU: Aren't we doing so ? If not then this is a bug. Word is not supporting EPS graphics in their documents, this means that we do not have a chance to fix this bug without having our own Postscrip interpreter. This Issue should then go to someone else who is repsonsible for new features.
The printing problem does not occur anymore with OO 1.1 (checked by HI on his Linux system). MRU->SJ: I checked it with src680m8, the graphics frame becomes empty when exported to MS format. As long as MS does not support EPS, the preview should be exported as Metafile.
re-targeted to "OO later"
accepted.
