Some OO simple OO documents and a graphic that causes the problem - I'll write some notes on how to replicate it shortly (12.51 KB, application/octet-stream)

Description Unknown 2003-05-12 22:03:01 UTC
I did some more investigation on defect 13146 (also reported by me).

It appears I can hang OO just by trying to insert my footer "graphic".

Problem exits in OO 1.0.2 and SO 6.0P2 - don't know about OO 1.1, OO 1.0.3.1 or
SO 6.2beta.

I never had problems with this. I Use 1.0.3 german version WIN98SE
Reporter, can you attach an example?

Can you reach this link:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sean.e.clarke/Technical_Document.stw

I have just downloaded SO 6.0P3 (or is it 4?) and it appears to be
fixed, hopefully this means it is fixed in OO 1.0.3.1.

When I created this bug entry I didn't realise it had been created, I
changed the severity to something P2, howver this created a new bug
report (14388), so that has some other information as well.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hi, I downloaded
<http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sean.e.clarke/Technical_Document.stw>
but I can not open the file, because it crashes my OOo immediately :-(

Could you please
- create a writer document, that works
- create an image
- write some hints to reproduce your crash (how you insert the image
- supply all that /files _as Attachments_, see above!)

So other users can do their own experiments

Rainer

OK..

the tar.gz package contains several files :-
OO_problem/blurulr6.gif
OO_problem/hangs_OO_immediatly.sxw
OO_problem/graphic_at_99_per_cent.sxw
OO_problem/graphic_in_header_ok.sxw

blurulr6.gif - this is a graphic that can be used to replicate the
problem. the problem occurs when this graphic is in the footer AND its
width is set as 100%.

hangs_OO_immediatly.sxw - need i say more? contains the graphic in the
footer @ 100% and hangs OO.

graphic_at_99_per_cent.sxw - here is the same graphic in the footer @
99%, no problems here.

graphic_in_header_ok.sxw - here is the graphic @ 100% in the header,
no problems here either.

To replicate on a clean document, create a blank document, go to
insert->footer->default, then insert the graphic in the footer. If it
is not sized at 100%, double click it and set width to 100& - OO hangs
when you click OK.

To reproduce it on an insert, openy up the graphic_in_header_ok.sxw,
cut and paste (or copy and paste) the graphic from the header to the
footer - OO hangs.

The graphic is from my installation of SO, and was supplied by Sun.

As mentioned yesterday in the other thread of this bug (14388) it
looks like Sun have "may" fixed it in SO 6.0P3 or it could of gone
away (only to resurface later!!).
