wrong value for bottom marge size on ms word 97 file
Last modified: 2003-10-16 11:07:17 UTC
On ms office 97 document, sometimes there is wrong valeur for bottom marge size. But, visually, there is no difference. I tested with ms word 97 sr2 French and openoffice 1.1 beta 2 English. I made a document with these value : 1.25 cm for bottom, 1 cm for footer. On openoffice 1.1 beta 2, values become 1.00 cm for bottom, 0 cm for the footer spacing, 0.50 cm for footer height. With openoffice 1.1 beta 2, I saved this document in ms word 97/2000 format. On ms word 97, values become 1.5 cm for bottom, 1 cm for footer. I tried with others bigger value, I haven't got this problem. Maybe it's not a bug. It will be interresting to test with ms word 2000 (I haven't got this).
Forgot one thing in the description. When I made the first document with ms office 97, in the footer, I wrote the word "toto". excuse me.

This is not a bug. OO Writer and MS Word just have different concepts in measuring and handling the distance and size values for Footers and bottom page margin. E.g. Writer measures the bottom margin between the papar margin and the lower end of the Footer. Word measures between body text end and paper border. Also Writer has a seperate value for the distance between Body text and footer. Thus, the values have to be re-calculated and generated, so that is will look the same in Writer nd Word.
Closed, because not a bug.
