Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 14935
Export to DBF does not have 950 code page
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
To simulate: 1. New a Calc document 2. Type something 3. Select "Save As" 4. Select "DBF" 5. The dialog box has a list of languages for selection but does not include Chinese Traditional (code page 950). In 644_m11 and 644_m4, we can select code page 950.
Hi Eike, could you have a look at this one please ? Should it be possible to select asian codepages for DBF Files, is this in the specifications for DBase ? Thanks Frank
We don't offer multibyte encodings for dBase anymore. Reason: automatic field width detection wouldn't match real field content's length, and entries would be truncated. An extensive check needs to be implemented that takes the encoding into account. This enhancement is definitely nothing for OOo1.1 anymore, I therefore set the target to OOo2.0
Developer notes: later?
According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap (http://tools.openoffice.org/releases) this issue was retargeted to OOo Later.
As of OOo2.2 multi-byte encodings are supported, see issue 72457. However, only IANA registered encodings and character sets are valid to use in database context. Code page 950 seems not to be among them, see also http://www.iana.org/assignments/character-sets
Closing.
