I had a question on formula 6 in Table 19. There are 2 Notes inserted about it there. Changes are recorded in document.
I looked at changes in Matt Needel's markup (Formula_HowTo_0_1a, and agree.
I am writing a document about converting from m$ office to OOo. I wrote my section on Formulas before I found this issue. One of the things that my document has that might be of interest is a listing of the Formula commands and what they produce. The listing is currently in Appendix I (currently the last appendix). It is a largish document aimed at intermediate to advanced users of m$ office converting to OOo. As it contains material posted by Jean Weber to issue 15982, I have mentioned it there. I also, inadvertently posted it to issue 16407, and have mentioned it in issues 6268 and 15329) The latest version of this document is available from: http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/hillview/OOo/ Cheers, Ian Laurenson

hi fksaalbach &co. nice to see that my very short introduction was usefull ;) i'll look at the sxw and will give you hints if i see something important - and it's not necessary to do a strict translation - the content is important! My initial idea for writing those first-step introductions was to give the reader some sort of screenshots with explanations. So, in my opinion this should not be a whole tutorial, but enough to understand how it works. okay, if there are any questions, i've added my mailaddress to the CC list.
Is this document ready to post to the OOo site?
I got a question about how to write a formula for evaluation at a certain point. i created this more complex example for a workaround in my original howto docu: 3+a=5 left lline " " csub { a=2} right none = sum from { i=x } to y i left lline " " csub { stack { x = 0 # y= 5 }} right none but more important: is there no better way to accomplish this?
What's happening with this How-to? I don't see it in the list of published how-tos. Will it be published? Is it published somewhere else and I haven't found it? I would like to refer readers to it, but not as an attachment to an issue -- that is a bit intimidating for many people. --Jean Hollis Weber
mysteron Appologize for the delayed response. I have no idea if there is a better way to format the commands to create your example. I think here lies the advantage of command line (OO) vs wusiwug (MSW) method of programming a math program. I have run into a few times where I had to use OO to create a formula and then imported it to MSW which is what my customer wanted as a deliverable. Fred

Taking over the document so I can post it to the site. I'll post it as LGPL. thanks for the document.
This should be updated on the site. Please review, and if everything is satisfactory, please close this issue. Thanks for the file.
Looks good
