Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15651
OOo freezes when switching "sheets" from .xls file
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:15:02 UTC
When loading the .xls file from bug #2800, I noticed that in OOo 1.1b2 there was an intermittent problem. After loading the file, switch repeatedly bettween the 3 sheets (named "plan1", "plan2", and "plan3" in the file). Occasionally, OOo will freeze for ~10s of so and be unusable. bug 2800: http://www.openoffice.org/project/www/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2800 the .xls file in question: http://www.openoffice.org/project/www/issues/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=921&file=oneif_256x256.sxc
Oh, one other tidbit. I cannot reproduce this problem when loading the .sxc file from bug 2800. So, this only affects OOo after loading an Excel file.
Hi Niklas, please have a look
Setting target milestone
What Oliver did was to start a Drag&Drop operation instead of just clicking. This takes a while because the sheet has to be copied. Otherwise, I can't see any freezing, so I'll close the issue as "works for me".

Oliver, Niklas- I'm a bit confused. What do you mean by "start a Drag&Drop operation instead of just clicking"? I wasn't trying to copy/move anything, just viewing different parts of the document. Did you try to open the document, and simply bring the various sheets into view? Just clicking on the sheet name tabs at the bottom of the page. Nothing more. (I'm reopening this issue, just because I don't know whether I should do that or not. It *doesn't* seem to be fixed.) Thanks!
Drag&Drop is started if you move the mouse by more than a few pixels while the button is pressed. This was the only case where we could reproduce a delay. That's why the issue's state is "worksforme".
closing again.
Niklas- Okay, I think I figured out the problem. The file I attached to this bug is the .sxc file, but the problem *only* exists with the .xls file. Sorry about that. Anyway, can you try again (no drag and drop neessary!) using the .xls file from bug 2800? The xls file: http://www.openoffice.org/project/www/issues/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=920&file=oneif_256x256.xls Thanks! -Jon
I don't see anything different with that file, either.
Geesh, I cannot think of anything else to ask here... oh, wait! What OS did you use? What version of OOo? You win, I give up. I'm not going to play the close/open issue game anymore. Thank you for working so closely with me on this problem. I cannot wait to help the project in other ways.
Closing.
