Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15682
'Latin' not in list of default languages
Last modified: 2005-02-28 17:19:29 UTC
in "Language Settings -> Languages -> Default Language for documents" it is not possible to choose "Latin".
Dieter, any news on this?
There were some investigations and enhancements done earlier to support latin in issue 6133. This issue is left.

.
The Tools.Options.LanguageSettings.Languages.DefaultLanguageForDocuments lists only languages/locales where complete locale data is available in the i18n framework, which isn't the case for Latin (and probably will never be). If you want Latin to be the default language for all text documents (for example for spell checking), create a document that has Latin assigned as Format.Character.Font.Language and make it the default template for text documents.
Closed wontfix.
