Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15702
Writer Chapter 1 - Introduction
Last modified: 2005-08-27 21:56:23 UTC
Create a chapter introducing Writer. The chapter should include the following Sub-Chapters: * Chapter 1.1: Why OpenOffice.org? * Chapter 1.2: How to get and install OOo. * Chapter 1.3: Whirlwind tour of OOo. * Chapter 1.4: Styles. * Chapter 1.5: Embedded images. * Chapter 1.6: The Web. This should be the start of the discussion for further sub-chapters. The Style Guide at Issue 15034 should be used for the Style of the chapter. The sub-chapters can be broken across several attachments. When complete they will need to be combined into one document.

The OpenOffice.org User Manual has officially started. I am posting the "Introduction to Styles" chapter in the SXW and PDF formats. The chapter is not done. It is merely at the point where I can start getting feedback from people. Currently there are 12 pages of content, which includes a lot of screenshots. I plan on adding some more, but I need to figure out what goes well in an introductory chapter. I also need to fill out the copyright notice.
I've done a lot of updates on the chapter. It should now be fit for inclusion in the User Guide. 1) I added a fair bit of content. 2) I spent a lot of time revising the screenshots and over-all appearance. 3) Thanks to Christopher Row, it has been extensively revised for errors, consistency, etc. 4) I tried to trim-down the file size without compromising the appearance. I will upload the chapter in PDF and SXW format.

Since the OOoAuthors site is up and going strong, what should happen with this issue? Is it still publishable?
I'd say close the issue. Cheers, Daniel.
