Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15749
Word Formatting incorrect
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
When opening word documents in Open office On Windows XP Services Pack 1 (All windows updates applied) on Compaq EVO 1020V 512MB regular formatting issues occur when using Drawn lines or graphics. Examples of the files can be obtained upon request. If you browse to www.provisiondirect.co.nz there is a word file you can download at the bottom of the page. The pdf version is also there and you can compare the differences.

I'm using an XP with all updates applied as well. The lines don't look right on the swx document. How did you create the .pdf document and the swx document?
I opened the .doc file with Word. Under Word the lines look just fine, under .pdf the lines look just fine. Under OpenOffice.org the lines are messed up. Something is definitely going on.
Unfortunately I did not create the pdf document, but as you have seen this opens well under word. I have seen a number of various formatting issues regarding placement of graphics and lines which have prevented me from supplying customers with open office, it would be great to get this fixed so I can push out this version of office (BullSHxx) with confidence. In my experience this has been happening with all versions of openoffice.

This problem is not insisted by imported draw lines or sth. like that. Here, the lines which do not look good in Writer are created by using the "Underscore" character. Due to the fact, that Word and Writer have different character width and spacings, it could be that the tex appears in Writer a bit wider. Delete one character at the end of the offendig line and you will see, that it looks much better than. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 6455 ***
