when the attached file pdf.xls is opened, data->sort, a-z, z-a are greyed 
out/disabled.  If the file is saved as sxc sort stays disabled.

Hi Daniel,
please have a look. Redlining is activated in the imported file, but
isn't in Excel.

Accepted. There is a fragment of a deleted redlining protocol, that 
causes the import filter to switch on redlining.

Workaround: To re-enable the sort dialog, just disable 
Edit->Changes->Record.
