Description sforbes 2003-07-01 11:09:58 UTC
I have noticed, that after leaving a Hebrew word file open in the background for
a while, I have very bad refresh problems when I try to go back to it again. THe
longer it was in the background, the worse the refresh.- see example screen shot.

Restarting OO fixes it.

To repro:
* open a Hebrew word file in OO
* Move to another virtual desktop, and word there for a few hours.
* go back to the OO document- see that there are resfresh problems.

I am running OO on redhat 9, gnome 2.2

on a PIII with 256 MB RAM.

DL->CMC: Could you please takeover?
Comment 3 caolanm 2003-08-14 14:13:27 UTC
cmc->ama: This can't be anything to do with a .doc import. Once the
.doc is loaded there is no filter in action. Either writer has a
memory leak, or something else in office does. A hard one to reproduce
and tackle methinks.

cmc->sforbes, any other details ? Only one particular document ? All
your documents ?, is it specific to hebrew documents or do you have
any other languages documents where it doesn't happen. Perhaps ole
objects in the trouble document ?

Of course it's not a filter problem. And Caolán asked the right
questions to Shoshannah. My additional question to Michael, can you
reproduce this? Does it occur with Writer only or with other
applications, too?

I have seen this happen with all my Hebrew documents on linux.
I haven't seen the same beavier with English documents or with the
windows version.

As far as I can tell, this happens only with the writer.

I cannot reproduce the problem. I tried with my hebrew documents on
Linux (RH 7.2) and Windows. I used the older OO 1.1 Beta and the newer
RC4.

Shoshannah,
do still encounter the issue with newer versions of OO (e.g. RC4)?
Meanwhile there have been some fixes which also may affect your
problem. Please try out. Thank you very much.
