Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 16300
shadow on slide background colour??
Last modified: 2003-09-11 15:56:27 UTC
All versions until now display the following feature that puzzles me a little. When one selects a solid colour as the page/slide background colour in Impress, the background will receive a shadow (see e.g. the file attached in issue 16216) . This happens when the default graphics style has a shadow configured. I find this a little weird for a background colour, and it could have implications for e.g. posterised printing.

Hi Bettina I think was a feature that the background gets the shadow. Please give a comment.
Actually, I found out the possible reason why this happened to me. In my default style, I had configured a shadow. That said, it still does not make sense to me why the background colour of a page/slide would have one, as it is not an object, but a property. A property not of an object to be printed (or projected), but of the support to be printed on (or projected on). If this support is to be able to take a shadow (I can accept the interest for projection), why not add a number of dialog tabs similar to those for 'areas'? So that at least it is clear that the page is handled just as an area, and that at least one can override global, default settings on it....
The shadow of the visible page cannot be set via User Interface. The shadow attribut can only be set for objects.
