Description lcn 2003-07-02 20:57:15 UTC
Hi,

On some buttons ("font color", "highlighting", "paragraph background",...), how
pop-up palette appears ?

On "OOo Writer",
for pop-up palette, "font color" button or "highlighting" button has to be
clicking for a little while. But not for "paragraph background", a quick click
is enough.

On "OOo Cal", on "font color" button, palette pop-up appears with a quick click.

So, what is the best practice for appear pop-up palette ?
And why is it different for "OOo Writer" and "OOo Calc" ? And I didn't test
with other OOo programs.

It should be resolved before final release.

Also seen on WinXP, German Beta2

The buttons "remember" the last selected value and show them in a
"color-bar"

A quick click should therefor assign this color to the selection.
(=>Same behaviour as in M$-Applikations)
Up to now they simply show the color but don't assign it on a single
quick click.

Click and hold for a little should show the pop-up palette.

confirmed on WinXP, OOo 1.0.3.1 and 1.1beta2.
But this is not a bug (nothing 's going bad here). Setting this to
enhancement, prio 3.

Advice: get people vote for this isue if you want it to be fixed soon.

Be it a bug or an enhancement, one can use it but there are things
worth thinking about. For OOo 1.1 it's too late anyway as this is
neither regression nor a showstopper.

After enabling Help-Extended Tips, the bubble help about these three
buttons tell exactly what happens when doing a short click (2x apply
selected colour, 1x open palette to choose colour). Not consistent,
but the help is correct.

The small green arrow on all three tells that a long click will "open
something" (=the colour palette for all three). Works.

The "bucket icon" after dong a click or selecting a colour is the same
for all three. Since "paragraph background" has this bucket on the
icon (In SO, not in OOo as the icons are different!) it should be
considered to use different "brush/textmarker/bucket/???" icons when
"dragging the respective colour into the document".

SBA->CJ: As discussed, yours.

Adjusting the different timing at opening PIs.
Considered for 'Q'.

I tested OOo 1.9.m47.
With the new toolbar specification, this problem is on the way to be resolved.

Found a little problem on Writer : Click on Background Color doesn't work, or
maybe doesn't keep the color... Maybe, I'm wrong...
Comment 9 andreschnabel 2005-03-27 11:05:59 UTC
There are many improvements due to the new toolbar design. So this issue is IMO
completely resolved in 680m88.
-> closing as "WORKSFORME"
