Description miv 2003-07-04 19:54:45 UTC
AC feature puts capitalized words even in the middle of the sentence.

How to recreate:

First of all turn AutoSpellCheck on. Then type "Texxt" and nothing more.
Click RMB on it, select "Text" from suggestion list. Next, type some
other words and then "texxt" again. It should get corrected automatically to
"Text" which doesn't look good.

Confirmed with OOo1.1beta2

Reassigned to MRU
Comment 3 michael.ruess 2003-07-08 13:15:52 UTC
MRU->TL: that's not good. The word "texxt" is replaced by the
capitalized word when this has been added to the internal list.

TL->OS: Please have a look.
Comment 5 Oliver Specht 2003-07-08 13:36:24 UTC
Sorry, neither the AutoCorretion nor the spell checking is currently
able to detect the correct capitalization.
This is not a defect but a reqest for enhancement.
Reassigned to BH.

Hi,

Spell checking can tell the differnce between "Text" and "text". They
are considered differrent words inside the spell checker but both come back as
correctly spelled.

But shouldn't Autoreplace only replace strings that match exactly the earlier change
that added it into the replacement list?

Texxt -> Text

Why does this then change?

texxt -> Text

Can't it do a case sensitive check to see if it an "identical" replacement can be made.

Texxt != texxt.

But this bothers many users...
When we spellchecking a document and find the word "tool", e.g., and
we add the word, 'cause the word is correct, in the next line OOo find
the word "Tool" and ask us again what to do...

I think is normal to wish that OOo recognize "tool" and "Tool" as some
word in spellchecking...

I filed a issue, days ago, (#18737), saying that. (I didn't see this
issue, 'cause is refer to autocorrect)

Thanx...

OOo 1.1RC4
Windows 98 and Windows XP Pro
