Description jcvigor 2003-07-16 01:54:36 UTC
A line feed, i.e., chr(10) entered with Shift+Enter is being counted as a character.
Comment 1 h.ilter 2003-07-21 11:44:14 UTC
Non printing characters shouldn't be counted should they?
Comment 2 Oliver Specht 2003-07-23 14:43:22 UTC
os->cj: The method SwDoc::UpdateDocStat() simply counts all characters
contained in the paragraphs. It doesn't exclude anything. If this
should be done please define which characters should be excluded
forward the task to dvo. Otherwise close it.
Comment 3 jcvigor 2003-07-24 22:57:38 UTC
The character count doesn't count paragraph breaks, likewise it
should not count line breaks. Both are non-printing and should not be
counted by default.
It would be nice to have a box where you could specify other none
counted characters like spaces and tabs. Such a box was available in
SO6 for specifying or altering word seperators but I have not seen it
in the OO1.1 series. But I guess this comment is an enhancement request.

confirming. -> NEW
Comment 5 christian.jansen 2003-09-23 09:43:23 UTC
cj->dvo: for counting word it makes sense to ignore tabs, hard line
breaks, line breaks & spaces. I also recommend to modify the character
count,in the Document Properties Dialog, from "Character" to
"Characters (with spaces)" and to add a new property called
"Characters (no spaces)" where oo.o ignores spaces, tabs, hard line
breaks and line breaks.

Because of a shortage of resources we have to retarget this issue to OOo later.
