The close window icon "X" dispears when opening more than 1 window

this is not a bug. The closer "X" is intended to close the last
document window, and open the so-called backing window. This window,
by definition, exists only if there is no document open. So it doesn't
make sense to have the "X" in case there is more than one document
open, because in this case, the backing window doesn't make sense.
