Description arul 2003-08-08 15:46:22 UTC
When working behind ISA firewall/proxy which requires user authentication,
there is no provision in the "Tools -> Options -> Internet -> Proxy" to enter
authentication details. Is there any other option where I can authenticate?
Comment 1 diane 2003-08-17 14:35:29 UTC
This may be a duplicate of Issue 7636, which shows this will be fixed
in OOo 1.1. Will you please show what version you are using?

Reassigned from support to ucb. Added oooqa keyword.
Comment 2 arul 2003-08-28 14:52:41 UTC
I am using "OpenOffice.org 1.1". If the issue is fixed, please let
me know where should I set the authentication parameters.
Comment 3 kai.sommerfeld 2003-08-29 15:16:09 UTC
This task is not really duplicate to issue 7636. This issue is
actually about two things:

1) Support for proxy authentication at all -> covered by issue 7636
2) The ability to enter and store authentication details across Office
restart, for instance via Tools->Options->Internet tab page.

Issue 7636 only solves the first part. Authentication data are
requested on demand (login dialog) and will be stored longest until
Office restart.

I recommend to change the type of this issue to 'enhancement' or
'feature' and to correct it's title to reflect the actual issue still
left now that issue 7636 is fixed (the persistence + user interface).

According to Kai's comments, I'm changing issue type to 'enhancement',
target to 'OOo 2.0', component to 'framework', and reassign to that
component.

A note on persistent authentication: I don't think that it is generally
a good idea to make passwords persistent. Any 'enhancement' in this
area needs to be very careful to *never* store clear text passwords
*anywhere*. Otherwise, I'll submit a high priority security issue
against that 'enhancement'.

Also changing 'summary' according to Kai's comments...

TM->BH: Please have a look, thanks !

Hello Matthias, I don't agree with implementing a persistent authentication. And
furthermore it would mean a further option. Do you agree, not to implement such
an option? If so, please close this one.

I am no longer officially active on OOo. Please take over.
Comment 11 eugene_saenko 2010-08-29 07:10:08 UTC
The problem was in OOo 1.x, OOo 2.x...
I am using OOo 3.2.1 now. Proxy authentication still not working.
